The 'Fat Mama'

The 'Fat Mama' is a 'Dark Mama' x Papillilaminum hybrid.

To begin, a Dark Mama is a cross between a dark & narrrow Warocqueanum and a Papillilaminum. This cross brings about a hybrid that has the lengthiness of a Warocqueanum (aka Queen Anthurium) plus the vein pattern of a Papillilaminum. The Dark Mama was thought to be sterile because it is incredibly difficult to pollinate. Thus, Dark Mama and its hybrids are hard to come by. The Dark Mama is also one of the more challenging anthuriums to grow despite being a hybrid, mainly due to its sensitivity to low humidity conditions, as its Warocqueanum ancestors.

This hybridization is believed to be done (with an unknown Papillilaminum) to make a plant that's an easier and faster grower. Dark Mamas are also very GREEN in color (sadly) and this hybridization introduces more of the Papillilaminum-type darkness & sheen.
